How Long Will It Take?

After calling 811 and placing your locate request with Kansas One-Call, locate crews from member utility companies will arrive to mark your property within a few days; they'll make sure you know exactly where to dig.

Kansas One-Call accepts locate requests twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. What does this mean for you...the excavator? Instead of waiting until Monday morning to file those locate request for the remainder of the week, you now will be able to file them anytime on Saturday or Sunday and avoid that Monday morning rush. Understand that by filing your locate request on the weekend, it does not change the effective start date of the ticket. That is regulated by law, Monday thru Friday are the only official call dates.

So, the day the ticket is filed does not count towards the minimum two working day notice. What happens when you file a ticket on the weekend? Well, it's the same as calling in on a Monday. If you call in a locate request on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, it's all the same. Since Monday does not count towards the two full working day notice, your request area is to be marked by midnight on Wednesday. So, you can start excavating anytime after 12:01 AM on Thursday.

NOTE:  These observed holidays will NOT be included when calculating the "two full working days".

Kansas One-Call will however, be open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, including holidays for all ticket locate requests.
